"Health" is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
"Wellness" is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth.
"Fitness" a set of attributes or characteristics that people have or achieve that relates to the ability to perform physical activity.
My name is Adam Wingate, and I am the program coordinator here at The Wellness Campus. I have been aboard this program since 2016 as a fitness instructor. During this past year, coach Amber, coach Michele and I have trained, improved, and impacted many children in our community in a positive way. In this year, the purpose and the platform for The Wellness Campus has been continuously established. "The journey to improving your child's health and fitness begins with one step".
What does the rest of your life look like? your child's? These are questions that we all think about on a regular basis, but seldom act upon. Why is this? The absolute most important time in your life and your child's life is the future. The future is still an open book, and we can choose to write whatever we like in the chapters to come.
From first-hand experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds, coach Amber and I have improved countless hours in the lives of many. Between our land and aquatic workouts, we have seen kids drastically improve their current state of health and fitness. Not only physical improvements but social, and behavioral advances have been made along the way. Our classes are moderately intense by nature, providing kids with an interactive and engaging atmosphere that constantly challenges their abilities.
As a child, we lay the foundation for a lifetime. This foundation determines our future habits and quality of life. Stressing our muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissue is imperative for proper growth. Without this stress we become weak, prone to injury, and ultimately inactive. This inactive lifestyle has a compounding effect that can destroy a person’s quality of life. Simple tasks such as walking up the stairs, doing laundry, or working in the yard are all activities of daily living. Many children and adults are so inactive that these everyday tasks can be a serious challenge. Health and fitness is not a trend or this week’s fad. It’s a lifestyle that will absolutely provide you and your child with a greater quality of life. The healthier and more fit you are, the less money you will spend on medical bills, medication, and reactive health resources.
Provide your child with the opportunity to develop this lifestyle and they will thank you for years to come.There is no greater investment than your childs future. "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he will never go hungry". This is the basis behind our fitness, nutrition, and adaptive swimming programs. We aim to give your child the tools to create and maintain their own healthy and active lifestyle.
